The Group Risk Specialist is a 1B governance function in Credit Risk Management to ensure compliance with Operational Risk Management programs. Primary responsibilities include execution of Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), Control Testing, Issues Management, creation and monitoring of Key Indicators (KIs), Change Governance for change initiatives, etc. The Group Risk Specialist works closely with the 1A teams in Credit Risk Management, the Operational Risk 2A Partners, and other risk partners to complete timely deliverables. A day in the role can be independent work preparing for an upcoming RCSA meeting with 1A stakeholders through review of prior RCSA documents, 1A procedures, operational risk reporting, audit/regulatory findings, RCSA standards, guidelines, and related training decks. Another example can be leading RCSA meetings with 1A stakeholders to discuss applicable risk statements, assigning inherent risk ratings and identifying and writing control statements. Days also include responding to risk partner challenge, imparting program guidance, seeking clarification from program subject matter experts, leading walkthrough meetings to understand the design effectiveness of 1A controls, establishing testing criteria and steps, performing control testing, identifying control weaknesses/gaps and monitoring remediation activities through closure. The Group Risk Specialist provides a comprehensive and diverse range of risk management expertise to business leaders. Leads and supports the implementation of appropriate risk frameworks and leading related management activities to mitigate enterprise and/or business-wide risk exposures for key business segment of the Bank or functional area. May provide oversight, commentary, and recommendations based on overall strategy and industry best practices.
