About The Position

Quarto Publishing Group USA is seeking an experienced and strategic Group Marketing Manager, Adult Books to lead marketing and publicity efforts across our adult publishing program. This is an exciting opportunity for a marketing leader who enjoys both big-picture strategy and hands-on collaboration. Reporting to the Marketing Director, you will oversee and mentor a talented Adult Marketing and Publicity team, shape marketing direction across a diverse publishing program, and drive high-impact campaigns for priority titles publishing into the U.S. market. You'll play a key role in connecting publishing, sales, publicity, digital marketing, and finance to ensure every campaign is positioned for success, while helping Quarto continue to grow audiences, increase discoverability, and deliver strong commercial results.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience developing and executing integrated marketing and publicity campaigns, preferably within adult trade publishing.
  • Demonstrated success leading marketing strategy across multiple categories while managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Proven ability to guide strategy development, prioritize competing initiatives, and translate ideas into actionable plans.
  • Deep understanding of book marketing, publicity, audience development, lifecycle marketing, and consumer engagement.
  • Experience managing campaigns across earned, paid, owned, and social media channels.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience evaluating campaign performance, sales trends, and marketing ROI.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Experience building strong partnerships across editorial, publishing, sales, digital marketing, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to provide thoughtful, high-touch support to authors and publishing partners.
  • Knowledge of media relations, influencer marketing, and the broader publishing landscape.
  • Comfortable balancing strategic leadership with day-to-day execution.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for industry events and author appearances.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Marketing Director to develop marketing strategy, market insights, and long-range planning across Quarto's adult publishing program.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop the Adult Marketing and Publicity team, fostering collaboration, professional growth, and high performance.
  • Guide campaign priorities and resource allocation across the Adult list, ensuring support aligns with title importance and business objectives.
  • Provide strategic direction and coaching that empowers team members to execute effectively while understanding the rationale behind key decisions.
  • Develop and execute integrated marketing and publicity campaigns for priority UK-originated titles publishing in the U.S.
  • Create innovative, results-driven strategies that generate awareness, engage readers, and maximize sales opportunities.
  • Secure exposure through traditional and digital media, influencer partnerships, retail opportunities, author events, and emerging promotional channels.
  • Serve as the primary U.S. marketing contact for assigned UK titles, collaborating closely with international publishing teams and authors throughout the publication process.
  • Partner with Sales, Publishing, Digital Marketing, Operations, and external stakeholders to develop cohesive go-to-market strategies.
  • Work closely with the Digital Marketing team on paid and organic campaigns across platforms including Meta, Google, Amazon, email marketing, social media, and influencer marketing.
  • Communicate campaign performance, insights, and recommendations across the organization.
  • Oversee the Adult Marketing and Publicity budget, allocating resources strategically across title priorities and initiatives.
  • Track spending, evaluate campaign effectiveness, and measure return on investment.
  • Analyze sales and campaign data to identify opportunities, establish benchmarks, and inform future marketing strategies.
  • Support annual planning and budgeting processes in partnership with Finance and senior leadership.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador for Quarto at industry conferences, trade shows, bookseller events, author appearances, and other publishing-related opportunities.
