About The Position

Methuen Public Schools is seeking Group Leaders/Trainees and Substitute Group Leaders/Trainees for the MPS Rangers Club, which operates before-school and after-school programs for students in grades K-8. The program runs throughout the school year and includes participation on open houses, professional development days, parent conference days, half days, delayed openings, and winter and spring recesses. The before-school program hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. The after-school program hours are Monday through Friday from 2:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. Additional hours may be required for planning and as directed by program coordinators. Hours will not exceed 28 hours per week on average. The position is contingent upon sufficient funding and enrollment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills, and attendance record.
  • Successful experience working collaboratively with others, preferably educators.
  • Successful experience working with K-8 students.
  • Ability to have a flexible schedule.
  • CPR/First Aid preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as an out-of-school-time, team-oriented group leader or staff preferred.
  • Outstanding preparation and/or experience may be substituted for some of the above qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assist coordinators or group leaders in all aspects of the program for K-8 students, including curriculum development and handling supplies.
  • Lead/co-lead program groups.
  • Meet with coordinators to discuss program/student issues.
  • Assist with the food program and parent drop-offs & pick-ups.
  • Maintain communications with coordinators/group leaders.
  • Assist coordinators in keeping required records and reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Participate in orientations, planning/monthly meetings, workshops, half days, delayed openings, winter & spring recesses, and parent conference days.
  • Perform other duties as required by program management.
