About The Position
The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is one of the largest charities in the DC area. The Y serves as an anchor in the community offering programs and services encompassing youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The YMCA at Sterling is hiring dedicated and enthusiastic Group Leaders for our School Age Child Care program. This is a meaningful opportunity to positively impact children’s lives in a supportive and collaborative afterschool environment.
Requirements
- Experience working with elementary-middle aged children in a school or childcare setting
- High school diploma or GED required
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

- Relevant coursework or degree preferred
- Experience fostering an environment for children of all abilities is valued.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage school-age children in recreational, academic, and enrichment activities
- Create a safe and stimulating environment for all participants
- Plan and implement daily lessons and activities that support social-emotional and academic growth
- Provide guidance and positive behavior support
- Maintain communication with families and program staff
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times
