About The Position

This role is for a Group Leader on the 1st Shift, responsible for guiding, instructing, and communicating assigned work to employees within the department. The Group Leader ensures the team follows work instructions and data cards, checks quality and performance, and assists the Operations Leader in planning personnel utilization, maintaining workflow, and ensuring equipment is in good working condition. They also assist in administering product quality, company policies, and safety programs, as well as maintaining required paperwork. The Group Leader is expected to keep the Operations Leader informed of any operating difficulties and provide recommendations for solutions, assist workers with work-related problems, and identify and communicate employee training needs to the supervisor, providing training as needed. Input is provided to the Operations Leader and team members on various aspects including quality, safety, performance appraisals, productivity, potential, discipline, and reward & recognition. Group Leaders are also expected to perform their usual classification responsibilities as required and other similar duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to work 1st Shift (6am-2pm)
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years Leadership experience outside of GE with 5 years manufacturing experience OR 3 years Metem experience including a previous leadership role
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Quality, Safety, Shop computer systems and Shop Support Requirements
  • Demonstrated Organizational and Leadership Skills
  • Good Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • Employee must work in the department where opening is declared
  • Employee must meet time on current position requirements
  • Employee must have a “Meets Expectations” or better rating on most recent appraisal
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to lift/push/pull at least 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to work occasional weekend shifts
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Willingness to wear personal protective equipment, for example: safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, and safety shoes

Responsibilities

  • Guide, instruct and communicate assigned work to employees in the department.
  • Check quality and performance of group and ensure team is follow work instructions and data cards.
  • Assist Ops Leader in planning ways of utilizing personnel in the most efficient and profitable manner.
  • Maintain flow of work in keeping to established schedules.
  • Assure equipment is in good working condition.
  • Assist Ops Leader in the administration of product quality, company policies and safety programs.
  • Assist Ops Leader in maintaining proper paperwork required in department.
  • Keep Ops Leader informed as to any operating difficulty and submit constructive recommendations to eliminate same.
  • Assist workers in work related problems, including quality problems.
  • Identify and communicate employee training needs to supervisor.
  • Provide training as needed to employees in department.
  • Provide input to Ops Leader and team members on Quality, Safety, Performance Appraisals, Productivity, Potential, Discipline and Reward & Recognition.
  • Perform their usual classification responsibilities as required.
  • Perform, as assigned, other similar or related group leader duties.
