About The Position

This is a full-time salaried position located at the General Motors St. Catharines Propulsion facility. As a Group Leader in Production, you will be responsible for leading teams of employees or technical personnel to drive operational excellence across manufacturing processes. This includes managing daily operations, developing and improving business processes, and fostering a culture of teamwork and collaboration. In this role, you may oversee production activities, quality assurance, inspection, problem-solving, and GM Built-in-Quality initiatives. You will be expected to apply independent judgment within the framework of Global Manufacturing Systems, with a strong focus on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). Selected candidates will gain the chance to develop new skills while contributing to the advancement of manufacturing processes that support the groundbreaking shift toward electric and autonomous vehicles.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a University degree or college diploma (engineering preferred)

  • Proficient in Throughput Improvement Process (TIP)
  • Advanced understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes, strong mechanical aptitude
  • Experience supervising employees in a union environment

  • Engine/transmission manufacturing experience

  • Red X & DFSS Certification
  • Lean Manufacturing experience

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and respond promptly to the manufacturing daily plan, making necessary adjustments to operations as required
  • Manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
  • Possess the experience to manage change and navigate ambiguity
  • Drive accountability through people and processes which may require difficult conversations
  • Strong interpersonal skills and leadership experience.
  • High level of critical thinking and analytical ability where problems are complex.
  • Proven project management and communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency (i.e. MS office, excel, word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)etc.)
  • Must be willing to work weekends and off shifts with extended hours
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering and Manufacturing Teams
  • Knowledge of GMS and BPD processes
