About The Position

This position assigns daily tasks, shares team performance and customer expectations, and provides technical and/or process direction to a group of team members. The Group Leader II assists the Ops Leader in meeting team results and objectives, supporting an environment of efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction. This role typically performs hands-on, functional responsibilities of the shift and acts as a backup for the Operations Leader for priority jobs. The position also involves facilitating team problem-solving, partnering with various engineering departments to implement changes, tracking team productivity, and reviewing discrepancies with corrective actions. Additionally, the Group Leader II may be involved in training, audits (T.I.B., Kamishibai, 5S, TPM, Standard Work, Safety), new hire interviews, and safety investigations. A key aspect of this role is actively leading teams in implementing lean concepts and identifying lean solutions for inefficiencies. The position also supports the Ops Leader with employee development, including determining skill levels, coordinating training, assisting with reviews, development plans, and goal setting.

Requirements

  • Must possess a High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
  • Maintain qualification in one or more of the production operations in their area of responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Assigns daily tasks, shares team performance and customer expectations, and provides technical and/or process direction to a group of team members.
  • Assists Ops Leader in meeting team results and objectives.
  • Supports an environment of efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Performs hands-on, functional responsibilities of the shift.
  • Fills the role of “backup” of the Operations Leader to assist with priority jobs.
  • Assists in facilitating team problem solving and team meetings.
  • Partners with planners, manufacturing engineering, and quality engineering to implement changes to reduce errors, improve throughput and ensure customer due dates are met.
  • Helps to ensure team achieves results, meets goals, and follows up promptly on action items and requests, which may include material availability if applicable.
  • Tracks the productivity of the team.
  • Reviews discrepancies, takes corrective action, recommends alternative methods, and provides constructive feedback to the team.
  • Follows up to ensure corrective action has been implemented.
  • May be required to fill-in for other group leaders as necessary.
  • May be required to attend meetings on behalf of the op’s leader.
  • Performs daily production tasks as required.
  • May be used as a trainer for assembly and test operations as directed by the Ops Leader.
  • May have responsibility for maintaining the T.I.B., performing Kamishibai Audits, 5S audits, TPM’s, Standard Work audits and Safety Audits as directed by the Ops Leader.
  • Participates in potential new hire interviews as required.
  • Performs safety investigations and corrective actions.
  • Actively leads teams in implementing lean concepts and ensures follow through on actions.
  • Actively looks for possible lean solutions to improve inefficiencies and workflow.
  • Assists in determining the skill level of each individual on the team and provides/coordinates developmental training to increase team members’ job knowledge and abilities.
  • Assists Ops Leader on reviews, development plans and goal setting.
  • Assists ops leader with follow up on progress of development goals.
  • Completes all other duties assigned by management.
