Under the supervision of the Program Director and Site Coordinator, the position is responsible for the direct care, supervision and well being of all participants enrolled in the Before/After School Program/Summer Camp. This role executes high quality, age-appropriate activities for enrolled participants, actively encourages participation in all activities to ensure growth and development, and is responsible for the physical safety of the participants at all times. The Group Leader must release participants ONLY to authorized persons and ensure the childcare facility is neat, orderly and free of all safety impediments. They develop and foster interpersonal relationships between participants and caregiver/families, proactively creating a positive, welcoming environment. The role actively listens to all participants, shows patience, understanding, and respect, and protects the emotional safety of all participants while encouraging the development of social skills and emotional intelligence. Open communication with caregivers is maintained to build a trusting and cooperative relationship. The Group Leader establishes structure and routines, exemplifies appropriate behavior, and guides participants through program guidelines, disciplining when appropriate. Attendance, absenteeism, and incidents are documented, and all unusual incidents or accidents are immediately reported. Other job-related duties may be assigned.
