About The Position

JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Group Lead to join our growing team. American Building Supply (ABS), a subsidiary of Jeld Wen, and one of the Nation’s largest wholesale suppliers of Doors, Door Hardware, Windows, and Millwork, currently has a position available for Group Lead – Receiving to assist our Distribution Division in providing value-added goods and services to our customers. JELD-WEN is one of the world’s largest door and window manufacturers, with more than 22,000 employees operating in 24 countries globally. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, JELD-WEN designs, produces and distributes an extensive range of interior and exterior doors, wood, vinyl and aluminum windows. Position Summary: The Group Lead plays a critical role in overseeing daily operations on the production floor. This position is responsible for coordinating team activities, maintaining production flow, and ensuring quality and safety standards are met. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous improvement through Lean management principles.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and solve problems effectively.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles is a plus.
  • Advanced computer skills and ability to use visual management tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead morning stretches and set a positive tone for the production day.
  • Assign team members to their starting positions and adjust labor allocation throughout the day.
  • Supervise and direct operations personnel on the production floor.
  • Evaluate, coach, and discipline staff as needed.
  • Train new and existing staff on procedures and expectations.
  • Track and maintain visual management tools, including hour-by-hour boards.
  • Monitor progress toward daily production goals using JEM tools.
  • Assist with production tasks when necessary.
  • Work with facility leadership to implement process improvements aligned with Lean management ideals.
  • Assist in scheduling and coordinating job site deliveries and production order flow.
  • Provide customer service via phone, email, and will-call.
  • Communicate customer needs with drivers, sales, and operations teams.
  • Pull and load materials for shipments and maintain window delivery schedules.
  • Monitor production supplies across departments.
  • Ensure accuracy of shipping materials and paperwork.
  • Maintain a safe and organized working environment.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned to support production and operational goals.
