About The Position

The Lead plays a critical role in supporting daily operations across Warehouse, Shipping, Assembly, and/or Final Processing. Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor/Manager, the Lead is responsible for guiding the team at start-up, reviewing prior day results, setting daily/weekly targets, and ensuring team readiness. This position emphasizes leadership, safety, quality, and productivity while driving team engagement and maintaining operational excellence through SQDCI boards, shift pass downs, and adherence to schedules.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in production, manufacturing, warehouse, or shipping, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Lead, Supervisor, or equivalent leadership role.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve root causes systematically.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to maintain integrity, confidentiality, and a clear vision of business needs.
  • Works well in a team environment with a diverse workforce.
  • Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism.
  • This role requires consistent physical activity throughout the shift, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials weighing up to 50 lbs independently and up to 100 lbs with team assistance.
  • Work may involve repetitive motions and working in a fast-paced assembly line manufacturing environment
  • Employees must be able to stand and walk for up to 12 hours per day on hard surfaces.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and climbing may be required to access materials and operate equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret production paperwork and labels
  • Ability to work in hot, humid environments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using metrology instruments and recording inspection data
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times, and employees are expected to maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Overtime may be required, sometimes on short notice, to meet production goals.
  • Must meet daily production rates while maintaining quality standards for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
  • Candidates must be comfortable working with both manual and powered tools commonly used in manufacturing and assembly environments. These include, but are not limited to: Mallets, Putty knives, Self-retracting knives, Diagonal cutters, Glazing guns, Drills, Saws, Sanders, Vacuum hoists, Mills, Punches, Routers, Pallet jacks, Tap measures

Responsibilities

  • Actively support and participate in the company’s safety and health program.
  • Lead daily start-up meetings to review results, area needs, and targets.
  • Maintain and update hour-by-hour boards; document missed goals and improvement actions on SQDCI boards.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and enforce compliance with JELD-WEN policies and OSHA guidelines.
  • Arrive 15 minutes before shift start to gather information for daily planning.
  • Complete shift-to-shift pass downs to ensure continuity.
  • Monitor adherence to schedules and escalate issues promptly to the Group Manager.
  • Track and sustain 5S activities and improvement initiatives.
  • Begin hot batches within 30 minutes of receipt.
  • Oversee team compliance with break and lunch schedules; escalate excessive time away from workstations.
  • Follow escalation protocols, including reporting when a manufacturing line is down for 30 minutes or more.
  • Collecting and verifying scrap and ct/cf sheets
  • Assisting the Group Manager with daily reports
  • Updating schedule attainment and SQDCI boards
  • Maintain and update the team’s cross-training matrix.
  • Recognize and celebrate team achievements; share accomplishments with the Supervisor and recommend rewards.
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with all personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
