About The Position

Matheny Medical and Educational Center has a career opportunity available for a Full Time Group Home Manager. This position oversees two group homes in Somerset County (Basking Ridge, NJ and Somerset, NJ). Matheny is a special hospital for children and adults with medically complex developmental disabilities. Matheny's mission is to provide exceptional care and an optimal quality of life for children and adults with special needs and medically complex developmental disabilities. Founded by Walter and Marquerite Matheny in 1951, the Matheny of today is a pioneer in providing fully integrated, personalized care and education that respects each person's dignity and encourages their highest potential. At Matheny, we focus on abilities in a warm and nurturing environment. Our fully-accredited non-profit school combines traditional academics with therapeutic intervention and pre-vocational skill development. Our Adult Services Program includes seven licensed community residences/group homes and two adult learning centers. Staffed by experienced therapists and instructors, the program supports adult patients as they attain their highest level of functioning and integration into the community. Matheny's Arts Access program empowers individuals with disabilities to create art without boundaries. Through the use of innovative communication systems, the artists have complete freedom to explore a world that is defined only by their unlimited creativity and unique self-expression.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of experience working with persons with developmental disabilities.
  • Valid New Jersey Driver’s License.
  • Adult CPR & First Aid Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of supervisory experience in a community residence preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews, hires and evaluates performance of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs).
  • Supervises the implementation of daily living activities, medication administration/documentation, meals, nutritional programs and leisure activities.
  • Serves as an active member of the resident's interdisciplinary team, to include involvement in the Individual Service Plan (ISP) development ensuring that all individuals are provided with a program that develops independent living skills according to their ability.
  • Maintains files, accurate documentation, and Personal Needs Accounts (PNA) for each resident within the home according to established procedures.
  • Maintains proper staffing patterns in the residences.
  • Ensures that all documentation requirements are completed during the work shift.
  • Fosters a comfortable and safe environment for each resident.
  • Ensures residents are transported to programs and appointments as necessary.
  • Establishes and maintains positive interpersonal relationships with clients, family members and other staff members.
  • Trains incoming and existing employees.
  • Conducts and records regularly scheduled meetings for staff and residents.
  • Remains flexible with time and maintains availability beyond regularly scheduled hours in order to meet the needs of the residents and participate in programs.
