About The Position

We’re delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a large, established international business for an experienced Group Financial Controller to join its Finance team at its Dundalk headquarters. Our client operates across both retail and online divisions, with a significant presence across Ireland and the UK, alongside wider international operations. The business employs thousands of people across multiple jurisdictions and operates within a highly regulated, fast-paced environment. This is a senior and highly visible finance position, offering the opportunity to take responsibility for the day-to-day financial operations of a sizeable, multi-entity organisation while working closely with the Finance Director and wider senior leadership team.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Group Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager.
  • Experience within a regulated industry would be particularly advantageous.
  • A strong track record of managing multi-entity, multi-jurisdictional finance operations.
  • Demonstrable experience implementing and maintaining robust financial controls.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • The ability to operate comfortably at both a detailed operational level and a broader commercial level.
  • Experience supporting senior leadership with financial analysis and decision-making.
  • Strong people-management experience with the ability to lead and develop a high-performing finance team.
  • A professional accountancy qualification – ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent – is essential.
  • Strong expertise across statutory reporting, tax compliance and audit management.
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS and local GAAP requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong experience using ERP systems and financial software.
  • An understanding of finance process automation and opportunities to improve efficiency through technology.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate complex financial information into practical, actionable insights.
  • A hands-on approach to problem-solving with excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced, multi-site organisation.

Nice To Haves

  • A degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related discipline would be desirable.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion would be particularly advantageous.
  • Experience within businesses operating across both retail and online models would be particularly relevant.

Responsibilities

  • Leading financial management across areas including general ledger, accounts payable and treasury.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting, covering both Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet.
  • Overseeing and ensuring the accuracy and completion of Balance Sheet reconciliations.
  • Managing the consolidation of financial results across multiple entities and jurisdictions.
  • Overseeing cash flow management.
  • Driving effective working capital management and optimisation.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and operational efficiency.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory, audit and tax obligations across the group's international footprint, including Ireland and the UK.
  • Evaluating financial risks and implementing robust controls to mitigate identified risks.
  • Ensuring adherence to relevant accounting standards and regulatory frameworks.
  • Coordinating internal and external audits.
  • Ensuring audits are completed within agreed timescales and that any findings are appropriately addressed and resolved.
  • Maintaining a strong financial control environment across the wider organisation.
  • Provide the Finance Director with accurate financial data, analysis and commentary.
  • Prepare comprehensive management reporting packs.
  • Analyse financial performance and track key business KPIs.
  • Translate financial information into clear and actionable insights for senior stakeholders.
  • Partner with business units to identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational performance.
  • Balance detailed financial oversight with the wider commercial priorities of the organisation.
  • Leading, mentoring and developing members of the finance team.
  • Providing guidance and support to ensure the efficient running of finance processes.
  • Maintaining high standards of accuracy and accountability.
  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Encouraging strong collaboration between Finance and departments including Operations, HR, IT, Marketing and Compliance.
