About The Position

Pike County Hospital is hiring a Financial Controller to lead accounting operations and ensure accurate, timely, and reliable financial reporting for its rural Critical Access Hospital. The role is accountable for the integrity, completeness, timeliness, and supportability of the hospital’s financial records and financial statements. It ensures timely preparation of accurate balance sheets, statements of operations, cash flows, and other required financial and statistical reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end close.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience with internal controls.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets and integrated accounting or ERP systems.
• Demonstrated leadership and analytical skills.

Nice To Haves

• 2–3 years of hospital or healthcare accounting experience; Critical Access Hospital experience preferred.
• Supervisory experience.
• CPA, CMA, HFMA credential, or master’s degree.
• Experience with cost reports, grants, and audit preparation.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly and annual close processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and financial statements.
• Oversee reconciliations, internal controls, cash management, accounts payable, and payroll accounting.
• Manage schedules for debt, leases, investments, fixed assets, and capital projects.
• Coordinate audit requests and maintain audit-ready work papers.
• Support cost report schedules, reimbursement reviews, and payer settlement entries.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Supervise and develop accounting staff.
