About The Position

The Group Facilitator is responsible for planning and facilitating psychoeducational and recovery-focused group sessions for clients receiving substance use and co-occurring mental health treatment. The Group Facilitator promotes a safe, respectful, and therapeutic environment where clients are encouraged to participate in discussions, develop healthy coping skills, strengthen relapse prevention strategies, and support their recovery journey. Working collaboratively with the Clinical and Medical teams, the Group Facilitator helps reinforce individualized treatment goals while ensuring all groups are conducted in accordance with Harbor Village policies, Florida DCF regulations, and Joint Commission standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in behavioral health, substance use treatment, mental health, or a related human services field.
  • Strong group presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to establish professional boundaries while building rapport with clients.
  • Ability to recognize and appropriately respond to clients experiencing emotional distress or crisis.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to complete documentation accurately.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS), Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC), or similar credential.
  • Experience facilitating psychoeducational or therapeutic groups in an inpatient or residential treatment setting.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and recovery-oriented practices.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and Florida DCF requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate scheduled psychoeducational, process, relapse prevention, life skills, and recovery support groups.
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and therapeutic group environment that encourages client participation.
  • Present educational material related to addiction, recovery, mental health, coping skills, communication, and healthy living.
  • Monitor client participation and report significant behavioral or clinical concerns to the treatment team.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of group attendance, participation, and session notes within the electronic health record.
  • Follow Harbor Village policies regarding confidentiality, HIPAA, professional boundaries, and client rights.
  • Utilize de-escalation techniques when appropriate and immediately notify clinical staff of safety concerns.
  • Collaborate with therapists, case managers, nursing staff, Behavioral Health Technicians, and other departments to support continuity of care.
  • Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and supervision.
  • Maintain compliance with Florida DCF regulations, Joint Commission standards, and Harbor Village policies.
