About The Position

Working at the YMCA offers the opportunity to change lives and strengthen communities by improving health and well-being for people of all ages. The YMCA of Greater Waukesha County is seeking a dynamic, health-focused individual to lead fun and effective Group Fitness classes. Under the direction of the Fitness Director, the Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for completing all required training and in-services. This role focuses on delivering adult fitness classes with excellent customer service, safety, a positive participant experience, and promoting wellness and engagement. All positions at the YMCA are responsible for upholding the Y's core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 18 years old.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience leading/instructing fitness classes.
Ability to teach more than one format (cross training provided for most formats).

Responsibilities

Complete all training provided and practice skills learned.
Safely lead energizing, fun, effective, and educational group classes.
Build strong rapport and authentic relationships with members, helping them connect with each other and the Y.
Actively participate in the Y's annual support campaign.
Answer member questions within the scope of practice to support their healthy living goals.
Maintain working knowledge of wellness trends to provide effective information and support.
Follow all Y policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.
Report incidents and accident reports as necessary.
Promote YMCA programs and events, encouraging regular participation in Group Fitness classes.
Keep accurate class attendance records.
Ensure proper use and care of audio and studio equipment.
