About The Position
The Group Ex Instructor at the Brandywine YMCA Family Location is responsible for leading energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes to achieve the YMCA mission and goals. This role involves answering member questions to support their healthy living goals, maintaining knowledge of wellness trends, building relationships with members, and keeping accurate attendance records. The instructor must also follow YMCA policies and procedures and respond to emergency situations.
Requirements
- Must have knowledge and skill to teach at least 2 formats OR advanced level training in area of specialty.
Nice To Haves
- Multi-lingual skills
- National Group Exercise Certification (ACE, AFAA, ACSM, or NETA) and/or BS in related field
Responsibilities
- Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
- Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
- Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
- Keeps accurate class attendance records.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
