About The Position

The Group Director of Financial Planning & Analysis Systems will lead a globally distributed team of software engineers and data scientists to transform Walmart's enterprise FP&A technology landscape into a unified, scalable, platform-driven ecosystem. This ecosystem will enable faster, more accurate, and more actionable financial decision-making at global scale. As a senior technology leader, this role partners closely with Finance, Product, Technology, Data, Risk, and Business executives to translate enterprise financial planning and performance management needs into durable technology solutions. The Group Director ensures that FP&A and Walmart Claims Services (WCS) systems serve as strategic enablers of enterprise priorities — improving transparency, accelerating planning cycles, delivering real-time insights, and supporting disciplined resource allocation worldwide. Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience leading enterprise-scale planning platform deployments and modernizing organizations away from legacy architectures
  • Deep expertise in Machine Learning, Generative AI, and semantic routing architectures applied to financial systems
  • Proven experience managing highly regulated, sensitive data environments with strict compliance requirements
  • Exceptional executive presence with demonstrated ability to align finance operations, business functions, and product engineering around a unified transformation strategy
  • Track record of leading and scaling globally distributed, cross-functional engineering teams
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 8 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 10 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 5 years’ supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Consolidate fragmented and third-party systems into reusable, standardized platform capabilities. Lead the development of a unified planning and forecasting platform that delivers actionable reporting and insights across the enterprise.
  • Lead the development of claimant- and claims adjudicator-facing capabilities that enable efficient, accurate adjudication — reducing costs for Walmart and driving fair, consistent outcomes for claimants. Build tight feedback loops with upstream systems to reduce incoming claims volume, while advancing a roadmap toward a proprietary platform. WCS has a target of $175M+ in savings through FY27 and beyond.
  • Enable finance transformation by building governed platforms that empower finance business teams to develop their own solutions using Generative AI — accelerating speed of decision-making and expanding analytical self-sufficiency across the organization.
  • Increase delivery velocity and predictability; improve CI/CD pipelines, release cadence, and engineering throughput. Drive platform reuse and eliminate duplication across systems and vendors. Establish a metrics-driven operating model with clear accountability. Reduce technical debt, improve system resilience, and rationalize legacy infrastructure.
  • Ensure clear priorities, ownership, and measurable value delivery across all domains. Maintain strong alignment between engineering execution and business and product outcomes.
