Requirements

Medical Graduate, Dental Graduate, PA or Nursing Graduate required.
Relevant EMR certificate required within 1 year from hire date if applicable.
Basic computer experience required.
Use of an encoder software product for code assignment in an acute care setting required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent critical thinking skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills to build effective partnering relationships with physicians, physician office staffs, coding staffs, management staff and facility leadership.
Ability to work independently in a time-oriented environment.
Computer literacy and familiarity with the operation of basic office equipment.

Nice To Haves

ECFMG Certificate preferred.
1+ year of clinical experience in acute care setting preferred.
Minimum of two years’ experience with ICD-10 and CPT coding in an acute care setting preferred but not required.
Computer data entry with 10-key preferred, with accurate typing speed of 45 wpm preferred

Responsibilities

Conducting clinically based concurrent and retrospective reviews of medical records to evaluate that the clinical documentation is reflective of quality of care outcomes and reimbursement compliance for outpatient services provided.
Working closely with the medical staff to facilitate appropriate clinical documentation of patient care.
Conducting documentation for Physician Quality Reporting Standards, internal audit and monitoring of pertinent MIPS/APMs measures on all selected visits.
