About The Position

The Groundwater Operator is responsible for the collection of data used to determine maintenance and production protocols. Maintains general operation of water wells and pump equipment and may assist maintenance crews on repairs. May assist Instrumentation Techs with control equipment such as SCADA connectivity and verification of flow meter / transducer accuracy. Implements and insures use of safety programs and safety equipment. Acts as a liaison for the City to direct and assist contractors who perform inspection work. This position will be required to work shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather. This position is considered weather essential personnel.

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must have a TCEQ Class “C” Ground Water Operators License within 2 years of hire date.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License required.
  • Strong computer skills in programs including but not limited to Excel and Word
  • Proficiency with reading/writing for accurate communication and transference of information; ability to follow oral and written instructions;
  • Ability to wear a full face respirator, self contained breathing apparatus, and/or supplied air respirator;
  • Ability to be a team player who relates well with co­ workers, customers, regulatory agencies and the public.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and operations of water wells and pumping stations and of water well pulling and setting equipment;
  • Mathematics required for calculations associated with water treatment profession;
  • Ability to maintain records and make reports
  • Basic knowledge of the operation of a SCADA system;
  • Working knowledge of the operation of small hand tools, office and lab equipment, pickup trucks, electrical overhead crane and other equipment associated with well field operations and maintenance.
  • Must be able to work productively under minimal supervision; be self-motivated and be well organized;
  • Strong mechanical skills with the-ability to repair equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Operates and assists in the minor maintenance of Water Production well field equipment and grounds;
  • Performs calibrations and make adjustments to chemical feed equipment, as required for maintaining safe and efficient operation of the well field;
  • Monitors, records, and maintains written and computer records of well data for 129 wells.
  • Record static levels, drawdown levels, and performs well survey data collection;
  • Collects data to be used in Ground Water District reports.
  • Utilizes and keeps track of updating work orders and software system for generated reports.
  • Inspects all well field equipment and grounds thoroughly for potential malfunctions and/or failures and fills out maintenance request forms, maintains all logs and records as required to record complete operating conditions for the well field;
  • Collects well field samples as needed;
  • Makes daily routine inspections of all well collection and transmission lines access points, valves and markers;
  • Read customer water meters in remote areas;
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
