About The Position

The Groundsperson works from the ground to keep the work area clear of debris and supports tree and brush operations. The role involves using hand tools and gasoline-powered equipment, preparing and feeding brush into a woodchipper, and loading and unloading trucks. The employee may operate trucks and equipment as assigned, perform basic maintenance, and report the need for major repairs. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring the employee to pass a background check and drug screen as required for the job. The position requires meeting I-9 work authorization requirements; the employer participates in E-Verify.

Responsibilities

• Follow and help enforce safe practices and rules.
• Keep the work area clear of debris using handsaws, pole saws, pruners, hand pruners, loppers, and gasoline-powered equipment to cut brush and trees.
• Define staging areas.
• Set up and break down materials, tools, and equipment as required.
• Prepare and feed brush into a woodchipper.
• Load and unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris.
• Operate various trucks and equipment as assigned.
• Perform basic maintenance on trucks and equipment, keep assigned equipment neat and orderly, and report the need for major repairs.
• Tie knots, rope breaks, and speed lines according to industry standards.
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
• Flag traffic to protect employees and the public from potential harm or injury.
• Work long hours and overtime during emergencies.
