About The Position

Xylem Tree Care is hiring for Groundspersons across Greensboro/Raleigh, NC. The Groundsperson supports the crew by performing from the ground. The Groundsperson observes all safety rules to guarantee a clean and safe work zone. This is a full-time role with benefits. Pay range is $19-$26 an hour. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience in vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
Valid Driver’s license required.
CDL preferred.
Position requires employee to be able to pass a background check and drug screen as required for this job.

Responsibilities

Always follow and help enforce safe practice and rules.
Works from the ground to keep work area clear of debris using handsaws, pole saws and pruners, hand pruners, loppers, and gasoline-powered equipment to cut brush and trees.
Define staging areas.
Setting up and breaking down material, tools, and equipment as required.
Prepare and feed brush into woodchipper.
Loading and unloading trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris
Operating various trucks and equipment as assigned.
Perform basic maintenance service on trucks and equipment; keep trucks and other assigned equipment in neat and orderly fashion; report the need for major repairs to truck and equipment.
Tying knots, rope breaks, and speed lines according to industry standard.
Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
Flag traffic to protect employees and the public from potential harm or injury.
Able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies.
