About The Position

This is a full-time position where the Groundsperson will work from the ground to keep the work area clear of debris using various tools and equipment. The role involves defining staging areas, setting up and breaking down materials, tools, and equipment, and preparing brush for a woodchipper. Responsibilities also include operating trucks and equipment, performing basic maintenance, tying knots, safeguarding employees and the public from hazards, and flagging traffic. The position requires the ability to work long hours and overtime during emergencies. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s license required.
  • CDL preferred.
  • Position requires employee to be able to pass a background check and drug screen as required for this job.
  • Must meet I-9 requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Works from the ground to keep work area clear of debris using handsaws, pole saws and pruners, hand pruners, loppers, and gasoline-powered equipment to cut brush and trees.
  • Define staging areas.
  • Setting up and breaking down material, tools, and equipment as required.
  • Prepare and feed brush into woodchipper.
  • Loading and unloading trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris
  • Operating various trucks and equipment as assigned.
  • Perform basic maintenance service on trucks and equipment; keep trucks and other assigned equipment in neat and orderly fashion; report the need for major repairs to truck and equipment.
  • Tying knots, rope breaks, and speed lines according to industry standard.
  • Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
  • Flag traffic to protect employees and the public from potential harm or injury.
  • Able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies.
