About The Position

Baldwin Paving Company, Inc. is seeking a dependable, practical, and safety-focused Groundsman to support the daily operations and upkeep of an asphalt plant. The position is based primarily at the company’s Newnan, Georgia asphalt plant, which is the employee’s home work location. The employee reports to the Plant Manager and may be assigned to support other company asphalt plants in the Greater Atlanta area as operational needs require. The Groundsman helps keep plant operations running smoothly by maintaining housekeeping, performing repairs and preventive maintenance, assisting with plant operations, and operating equipment. Scheduling requires flexibility and may include day or night shifts, long hours, and weekend work, including Saturdays and Sundays. Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to assigned work locations are required. This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; some weekend hours may also be available. The compensation range is $18–$20 per hour depending on experience, with a bonus opportunity. Benefits are offered after an applicable waiting period.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent desired but not required.
Ability to safely and efficiently operate a front-end loader.
Ability to perform maintenance and repairs, including welding and fabrication as required.
Ability to access all areas of the plant to perform maintenance and repairs.
Ability to detect safety hazards and equipment malfunctions and respond appropriately.
Ability to follow directions and adhere strictly to safety requirements and procedures.
Willingness to work nights and weekends when necessary and to work flexible schedules, including long hours.
Reliable transportation and ability to travel to assigned work locations.
Willingness to work in a team environment and assist with other duties as required.

Responsibilities

Assist the plant foreperson with the daily operations and upkeep of the plant.
Maintain housekeeping around the plant, including shoveling.
Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on plant equipment as needed.
Access plant areas to perform necessary maintenance and repairs, including welding and fabrication duties as required.
Operate a front-end loader safely and efficiently to move aggregate, sand, and recycled asphalt within the plant yard or job site.
Conduct pre-operation inspections and report mechanical issues.
Detect safety hazards and equipment malfunctions and respond accordingly.
Follow directions and safety protocols and procedures.
Maintain a professional and courteous attitude toward coworkers, supervisors, and the general public.
Report to assigned job sites in proper attire and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
Work cooperatively with coworkers and supervisors and assist with other duties as required.
Travel to other assigned work locations when needed.
