About The Position

As a member of Moon Valley Nurseries’ Planting Crew, the Groundsman helps install trees and plants for customers. The role includes planting trees and shrubs according to landscape plans and specifications, maintaining appropriate spacing and alignment, and following fertilization and planting techniques that promote healthy growth. The Groundsman works with the crew to coordinate tasks, complete projects on time, provide customer service, and keep work areas and equipment clean and organized. The position is based in Hendersonville, Tennessee, includes travel of up to 25%, and requires open availability for day shifts and work any day of the week. Work is performed outdoors for extended periods, potentially in rain, heat, sun, and wind. The role involves frequent physical activity, including moving items weighing up to and over 75 pounds. The position is subject to motor vehicle record and criminal background checks in accordance with applicable laws. The employer describes the role as full-time and lists a pay range of $15.50–$25.00 per hour.

Requirements

Ability to perform manual labor.
Ability to follow specific instructions and safety protocols.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb throughout the workday.
Ability to frequently reach for, pull, lift, and/or move items weighing up to and over 75 pounds.
Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in potentially extreme conditions, including rain, heat, sun, and wind.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Subject to a motor vehicle record and criminal background check in accordance with applicable laws.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in landscaping, horticulture, or a related field.
Previous experience operating power tools, hand tools, and other equipment.

Responsibilities

Plant trees, shrubs, and other plants according to landscape plans and specifications.
Follow proper fertilization and planting techniques to promote healthy plant growth and longevity.
Keep work areas and equipment clean and organized.
Communicate with team members and supervisors to coordinate work and complete projects on time.
Assist with loading and unloading plants, tools, and equipment, including keeping accurate counts and distributing weight appropriately.
Use required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and gloves.
Recognize Blue Stake/811 colors at job sites to avoid damage to underground utilities.
Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
Be available to work any day of the week.
Perform other assigned duties and tasks.
