About The Position

The Facilities department strives to ensure a clean and safe environment that is inclusive and meets the needs of diverse populations on campus. The Groundskeeper position exists to assist the Physical Plant Supervisor by performing lawn, garden and/or road maintenance services for the Riverland Community College campuses (Austin, Albert Lea and Owatonna). This includes operating hand-held and riding machinery and tools, clearing snow and trash from facility grounds and perform simple repairs and regular preventive maintenance on equipment.

Requirements

  • Ability to plant, weed, trim, water, and fertilize outdoor plants sufficient to perform lawn, garden, and/or road maintenance for a State facility.
  • Knowledge of practices sufficient to maintain and improve facility grounds/landscape and recognize and/or treat plant diseases and pests.
  • Ability to use and perform simple repairs on hand-held tools, riding machinery (all types of lawn and landscape equipment), and snow removal equipment (hand and heavier equipment).
  • Basic knowledge of chemical fertilizer application.
  • Ability to lift and move from 40 to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to work in inclement weather conditions.

Responsibilities
