About The Position

Provide a service of installation, repair, and maintenance of all district grounds and landscaped areas. Hours/Day: 8 Continuing Role Daily Start/End times: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM Anticipated Start Date: ASAP

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability and aptitude to perform the responsibilities listed.
  • Knowledge and ability to handle power equipment such as mowers, edgers, sod cutters, pruning equipment, and snow blowers.
  • Physical strength to perform strenuous outside work.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
  • Related work experience required with parks, golf courses, and large institutions preferred.
  • Basic horticulture knowledge and ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with other people and to sustain employment.
  • Valid Washington State pesticide spray license including items covered in 10, 11, and 12. Herbicide - Horticulture. Insecticide - Horticulture. Pest Control General - Structural.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate and work effectively with a diverse group of co-workers and staff in a confidential manner.
  • Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication.
  • Knowledge of measuring and laying out various types of sports fields.
  • Relates positively to youth and adults of varying socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Work with hand tools to dig ditches, trenches, and other excavations.
  • Maintain shrub beds, flower beds, lawns, and other required areas.
  • Apply fertilizers, weed, and ground sprays as required.
  • Use pesticides and/or IPM for pest control.
  • Remove, transfer, and lay sod as needed.
  • Operate power tools and equipment including trucks, tractors, etc.
  • Handle power equipment such as mowers, edgers, sod cutters, and pruning equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance work on grounds such as aerating, trimming, pruning, and seeding as required.
  • Perform in snow removal as assigned.
  • Observe safety rules and regulations at all times.
  • Perform related duties as requested by supervisor.
