About The Position

Candlewyck Apartments is seeking a dedicated Groundskeeper to keep the property clean, inviting, and well-maintained throughout the seasons. The role also supports property staff as needed to help ensure efficient operations. The Groundskeeper must follow company policies and applicable federal, state, and local laws, including Fair Housing regulations. The position is full-time and on-site at Candlewyck Apartments in Kalamazoo, Michigan, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Pay is $16.00–$18.00 per hour, depending on experience. Monthly renewal commission is listed as supplemental pay.

Requirements

Ability to perform physical tasks and follow directions efficiently.
Wear protective gear, including gloves, goggles, and appropriate clothing, based on the tasks.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Work on-site Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Nice To Haves

Prior outdoor maintenance experience preferred.
Familiarity with landscaping tools and equipment, such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, rakes, shovels, and snow-removal tools.

Responsibilities

Maintain lawns, gardens, and landscaped areas year-round.
Mow grass, trim shrubs, and select appropriate plants for walkways or garden spaces.
Rake leaves and care for flowers, trees, and plants.
Control weeds and remove harmful vegetation, such as poison oak and poison ivy.
Apply mulch, fertilizers, and pesticides as necessary.
Collect and dispose of trash and debris from common areas.
Sweep sidewalks, steps, and shared spaces.
Perform light snow removal and salt walkways as needed.
Coordinate larger-scale snow or dirt removal when necessary.
Assist the maintenance team with additional duties as assigned.
Report supply needs to management.
Follow company policies and applicable federal, state, and local laws, including Fair Housing regulations.
