About The Position

The Groundskeeper maintains the exterior appearance of Ohio Christian University’s on-campus and off-campus facilities and land in Circleville. The role includes routine grounds care, equipment upkeep, seasonal university decorations, trash pickup, snow removal, power washing, and completing work orders and logs. This is a 12-month position scheduled for 40 hours per week, with a starting salary of $15 per hour.

Employees must have a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the OCU Community Lifestyle Statement. The position involves outdoor work in extreme heat and cold, with noise that can be loud at times. Physical activities include standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, and lifting or moving at least 50 pounds.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Strong Christian commitment and adherence to the standards outlined in the OCU Community Lifestyle Statement.
• Basic language skills, basic mathematical skills, basic reasoning ability, and basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of groundskeeping safety practices and procedures related to the building trades.
• Basic math skills, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
• Ability to effectively use a variety of hand and power tools.
• Ability to review and identify projects that need to be serviced by outside contractors.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and lift and/or move at least 50 pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors in extreme heat and cold and in conditions that can be loud at times.

Responsibilities

• Maintain grounds through mowing, mulching, trimming, weeding, aerating, and fertilizing lawns.
• Replace plants as needed.
• Set sprinklers and replace broken sprinkler heads.
• Maintain grounds maintenance equipment.
• Trim tree branches that create hazardous situations.
• Set up and take down university decorations throughout the year.
• Pick up trash daily.
• Complete work orders.
• Remove snow.
• Power wash buildings.
• Maintain work logs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
