About The Position

The Groundskeeper maintains property grounds through mowing and cutting lawns; trimming and edging walkways, flower beds, and walls; trimming bushes and trees; planting bushes and flowers; applying lawn-care chemicals as needed; and removing snow and spreading salt. The role also includes broad landscape maintenance, upkeep of equipment and watering systems, litter and trash removal, cleaning roads and paved areas, basic carpentry and painting, and maintaining safe work areas. On-the-job training is provided. The position may suit someone entering or returning to the workforce with limited experience and education.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must have a valid driver's license.
No high school diploma, GED, or college degree is required.
No experience is required; on-the-job training is provided.

Responsibilities

Maintain property grounds.
Ensure proper maintenance of mowers, blowers, and sprinkler systems.
Perform landscape maintenance duties, including leaf removal, pruning shrubs and trees, fertilizing, lawn care, and watering.
Remove litter and empty trash cans.
Clean roads, parking lots, and walks to ensure the safety of pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
Perform basic carpentry and painting tasks.
Remove ice and snow from walks, roads, and lots, including applying ice melter and road sand.
Establish new plants and plantings in landscapes and through greenhouse culture.
Use manual and automatic watering systems to provide adequate moisture for plantings.
Perform safety checks on equipment and recommend necessary changes to the leader.
Maintain safe work areas during and after work projects.
Clean spills as needed, including body fluids.
