About The Position

The Groundskeeper is responsible for upkeep and maintenance of the Grand Canyon Railway property grounds while maintaining a positive attitude and professional appearance. This seasonal, full-time position is based at the Grand Canyon Railway and Hotel in Williams, Arizona, and runs from October 19, 2026, through February 1, 2027. Pay is $17.85 per hour. The role involves maintaining grounds, vegetation, irrigation systems, tools, and equipment, and supporting the company's mission, values, safety practices, and guest service.

Requirements

Must be mechanically inclined.
Must be at least 19 years old to operate equipment.
Must have a valid Arizona Driver’s License and comply with the Xanterra/GCR Company Vehicle Policy.
Able to meet the physical demands of the role, including prolonged standing and walking; climbing and using ladders; and lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 100 pounds occasionally.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in turf and shrub care or landscape maintenance.
Knowledge of lawn care equipment, including its use and maintenance.
Knowledge of rooms and hotel layout on GCR property, general knowledge of Xanterra Grand Canyon Railway guest services, and ability to convey information to guests.

Responsibilities

Understand and support Xanterra’s Mission Statement, Cultural Pillars, Community Commitment, and Core Values.
Maintain and operate hand and power tools, including lawn mowers, edgers, and trimmers.
Maintain and operate the automatic sprinkler system, including determining and carrying out irrigation schedules for lawn and shrub areas.
Care for vegetation, including identifying disease, fertilizing, trimming, pruning, transplanting, and planting.
Maintain a fire defensive perimeter around assigned buildings.
Plow sidewalks for snow removal if necessary.
Trim trees, shrubs, and other vegetation as required, and properly dispose of clippings.
Perform preventive maintenance on assigned power tools and mowers.
Follow applicable safety, risk management, and environmental policies and procedures related to the position.
Wear required personal protective gear while performing job duties.
Perform other duties as assigned.
