About The Position
Performs manual work caring for and maintaining grounds, including plants, shrubs, lawns, and sprinkler systems. The role has no supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of lawn tools, their operation, and maintenance.
- One year of grounds-maintenance experience, including equipment operation.
Nice To Haves
- At least one year of commercial mowing and landscaping experience.
Responsibilities
- Care for and maintain grounds, plants, shrubs, and lawns.
- Install, maintain, and repair sprinkler systems.
- Use a push mower on steep inclines.
- Operate mobile equipment such as tractors, mowers, Rota-vators, and edgers.
- Cut lawns and trim and edge around walks, flower beds, and walls.
- Prune shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches, or twigs.
- Apply fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides to lawns, shrubs, and trees.
- Rake and bag leaves; clean grounds and remove litter.
- Shovel snow from walks and driveways and spread salt on public passageways to prevent ice buildup.
- Plant grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs; water lawns and shrubs.
- Repair fences, gates, walls, and walks; paint fences and outbuildings.
- Clean drainage ditches and culverts.
- Sharpen weed cutters, edging tools, shears, and other tools.
- Make minor repairs to equipment such as lawnmowers, spreaders, and snow-removal equipment.
- Install, maintain, and repair signs, fences, and barricades.
