About The Position

Performs manual work in the care and maintenance of grounds, including plants, shrubs, lawns, and sprinkler systems. The position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of lawn tools, their operation, and maintenance.
One year of grounds maintenance experience, including equipment operation.
At least one year of commercial mowing and landscaping experience.

Responsibilities

Operate lawn tools and mobile equipment, including tractors, mowers, Rota-vators, and edgers.
Cut lawns and trim and edge around walks, flower beds, and walls, including using a push mower on steep inclines.
Prune shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches, or twigs.
Spray lawns, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides.
Rake and bag leaves; clean grounds and remove litter.
Shovel snow from walks and driveways and spread salt on public passageways to prevent ice buildup.
Plant grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs, and water lawns and shrubs.
Repair fences, gates, walls, and walks; paint fences and outbuildings.
Clean drainage ditches and culverts.
Sharpen tools such as weed cutters, edging tools, and shears.
Make minor repairs to equipment such as lawnmowers, spreaders, and snow removal equipment.
Install, maintain, and repair signs, fences, barricades, and sprinkler systems.
