About The Position

The Building Services Department is seeking a Groundskeeper II to join their team. This role involves performing groundskeeping and landscape maintenance duties, serving as a lead person in work groups, and potentially training Groundskeeper I employees. Requirements

High school diploma or GED
One year of groundskeeping experience
A valid Georgia driver's license

Nice To Haves

Some knowledge of properly caring for plants, trees, and shrubbery.
Ability to lift to 50 lbs. or more.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to operate hand tools and equipment used in groundskeeping, such as lawnmowers, weed-eaters, shears, trimmers, etc.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle
Experience in landscaping, particularly in large-scale projects.

Responsibilities

Perform groundskeeping and landscape maintenance duties.
Serve as a lead person in work groups and may help train/orient Groundskeeper I employees on methods and procedures.
Care for campus grounds, including mowing lawns, watering flowers and shrubbery, and trimming trees and bushes.
Walk assigned campus areas, collecting and removing trash from campus grounds.
Plant trees, flowers, and bushes; rake and bag leaves.
Spray lawns, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides.
Operate groundskeeping and maintenance equipment, such as lawnmowers, trimmers, and pressure washers, for cleaning campus fountains, outdoor furniture, and other campus areas.
Perform maintenance on groundskeeping and/or landscaping equipment, such as lawnmowers, spreaders, and snow removal equipment.
Sharpen tools, such as weed cutters, edging tools, and shears.
Assist in plant setups in designated areas for special meetings and events.
Assist in inclement weather duties, such as clearing snow from sidewalks and parking lots.
Operate various types of vehicles including ATVs, golf carts, LSVs, full-size light-duty pickup trucks, and medium-duty trucks (box trucks and stake bodies).
Tow trailers, including open back and enclosed cargo styles, single axle types, and ATV designed trailers.
