About The Position

As a Groundskeeper/Facilities Associate, you will be required to perform essential upkeep tasks throughout our facility including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. In this position, you will be responsible for a wide variety of activities such as repairs and cleaning to ensure that our facilities are both tidy and functional. Self-motivation with a keen eye for detail, reliability, and the possession of solid technical knowledge are essential in this job. This position reports to the Director of Facilities.

  • Ability to safely handle drill motor and all hand tools.
  • Ability to repair minor equipment, change filters on all AHU and AC equipment, replace all lamps and ballasts in lighting fixtures
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints
  • Must be personable and able to effectively communicate and work with staff, contractors, and volunteers.
  • Must be able to converse intelligently with sub-contractors from all phases of building maintenance.
  • Must maintain a valid Driver’s License and auto insurance meeting diocesan minimum requirements

Responsibilities

  • Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
  • Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Diocese
  • Abides by the Confidentiality Policy set forth in the Diocese Employee Handbook
  • Arranges furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for meetings, classroom/playground activities, meals, and events including Mass setup/preparations
  • Manage landscape vendors’ projects.
  • Manage irrigation vendors’ projects.
  • Manage all landscape equipment.
  • Manage all annual landscaping projects (fertilizing, aeration, annual flowers, tree trimming, mulching, etc.).
  • Responsible for cleaning, emptying trash at baseball/softball diamonds.
  • Repairs at both baseball/softball diamonds.
  • Mowing and care for baseball/softball diamonds including watering and sprinkler systems.
  • Weed all warning track on both baseball/softball fields (infield and outfield).
  • Clean and blow out all dugouts.
  • Make sure pitching and batting areas are moved and cleaned.
  • Responsible for cleaning, emptying trash, and minor repairs around football field.
  • Drag football field (standard maintenance on field turf).
  • Weed the fence lines and under the bleachers (spry with grass killer – weekly).
  • Responsible for cleaning, emptying trash, and minor repairs around Track & Field Area.
  • Drag field, pull weeds, add soil as needed for Track & Field Area.
  • Keep surrounding area clean and cut back for Track & Field Area.
  • Weed each area – spray weekly with grass killer for Track & Field Area.
  • Assist Director of Facilities as need and assigned.
  • Assist Trane personnel as needed.
  • Assists with all major set-up and teardown of arena.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on all mechanical systems.
  • Maintain campus landscaping.
  • Seasonal landscape cleanup and plantings.
  • Plumbing knowledge to address leaks, clogs or other drainage problems.
  • Electrical wiring capabilities to manage problems with the building’s electricity.
  • Carpentry ability to handle basic repairs around the building.
  • Groundskeeping if the facility contains lawns or other outdoor areas in need of maintenance.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with employees or residents of the building in a pleasant manner
  • Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked.
  • Physical stamina to handle a full shift of being active and working on the building.
  • Work order management through Brightly software. Working Knowledge of IPAD required.
  • Event setup and breakdown (Stage setup, pipe and drape setup, seating setup, sound system setup).
  • Access control system repairs.
  • Door Hardware Repairs.
  • Moves and arranges furniture and equipment; sets up rooms for special meetings or events.
  • Performs minor inspection duties of work performed or general building condition under the direction of a supervisor of a skilled trades’ person.
  • Cleans worksites including hauling debris and trash to the dumpster, cleaning tools and equipment and ensuring tools, materials and equipment are stored properly.
  • Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.
