About The Position
This seasonal position is responsible for the maintenance of municipal parks and cemeteries. Duties performed are of a manual and unskilled nature requiring physical endurance and a willingness to perform menial tasks. Direct supervision is received from higher level personnel. Related work is performed as required. CITY RESIDENCY IS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION
Requirements
- Three (3) months of full-time paid experience (or its part-time equivalent) in a position related to exterior maintenance of grounds, plantings, or recreation areas.
Responsibilities
- Trims hedges, and prunes trees, using hand tools
- Mows lawns, using hand or power-driven lawnmower
- Cleans up glass and litter
- Empties trash receptacles
- Repairs and paints benches and tables
- Operates a variety of grounds maintenance equipment (mowers, leaf and snow blowers, sod cutters, string trimmers, etc.)
- Performs minor preventative maintenance on play apparatus, and other park or cemetery equipment
- Removes snow from walkways, steps, and driveways
- May assist in preparing, digging, and filling of grave sites
- May assist in preparing and setting foundations for headstones
