About The Position

This is a full-time position responsible for maintaining the grounds of the facility. The role involves a variety of tasks related to landscaping, snow removal, equipment maintenance, and assisting other departments as needed. The ideal candidate will have mechanical aptitude, knowledge of groundskeeping, and the ability to operate various types of equipment safely.

Requirements

• Must be able to speak, read, write and understand instructions in English.
• Must have a current driver’s license in good standing with the state of Kansas.
• Must have a good driving record and meet all organizational and insurance company requirements to drive company vehicles.
• Possess mechanical knowledge and the ability to repair lawn and snow removal equipment.
• Possess basic knowledge and ability to operate sprinkler systems, install new systems, and repair existing system.
• Possess a working knowledge of caring for lawns, plants, shrubs and trees.
• Must obtain a chemical applicator’s certificate within 3 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Mow and trim all lawns.
• Maintain flower beds, shrubs, and trees.
• Operate and maintain snow removal equipment, including tractors, ZTR machines, and snow blowers, and perform manual snow shoveling.
• Safely operate lawn equipment such as tractors, ZTR mowers, gas trimmers, power-rakes, and edgers.
• Use a walkie-talkie unit for communication with staff.
• Respond to emergency needs and communicate effectively with residents and staff.
• Drive a company vehicle to haul materials or pick up parts.
• Repair lawn equipment.
• Prune trees, shrubs, and roses.
• Plant trees, shrubs, and flowers.
• Operate, install, and repair sprinkler systems.
• Apply fertilizer and other chemicals safely and properly.
• Install and remove Christmas lights using ladders and other equipment.
• Safely operate sprayer equipment for applying chemicals.
• Weed and maintain flower beds.
• Cultivate around trees.
• Maintain and service company vehicles.
• Lift, load, move, and unload resident's belongings when requested.
• Change air conditioner filters and work with filter media when requested.
• Assist maintenance staff when required.
• Assist refurbishing staff when required.
• Follow federal, state, and organizational regulations and guidelines, including resident rights.
• Complete other job duties as assigned.
