About The Position

The Grounds Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and landscaping of the hotel and dormitory grounds. By leading a team of groundskeepers, and with direction from the Chief Engineer, this role ensures the property's outdoor spaces are well-maintained, safe, and aesthetically pleasing for guests and staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in groundskeeping or landscaping
  • One year experience leading a team
  • Strong knowledge of landscaping, plant care, and irrigation systems
  • Proficient in operating landscaping equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers)
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs as needed
  • Ability to stand walk for up to 8 hours per day
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications in landscaping or grounds management are considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily maintenance and care of hotel and dormitory grounds including, walkways, lawns, gardens, and recreational areas.
  • Clearly communicate all tasks for the day to associates and follow up as needed.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of groundskeeping staff, while assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
  • Inspect the property regularly to identify maintenance needs, potential hazards, or areas for improvement.
  • Ensure proper upkeep of landscaping tools, machinery, and equipment, scheduling repairs or replacements as needed.
  • Develop and implement schedules for landscaping, irrigation, fertilization, and pest control to ensure optimal plant health.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Engineer to plan and execute landscaping enhancements or seasonal décor changes.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with engineering, housekeeping, and front desk personnel to address grounds requirements, and ensure minimal disruption to guests' experience.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for oneself, colleagues, and guests. Report any hazardous situations or incidents immediately to the appropriate personnel.
  • Promptly address and resolve maintenance requests from guests, ensuring their satisfaction and comfort. Maintain a professional and courteous attitude while interacting with guests.
