About The Position

This position provides outdoor grounds cleaning services for the National Gallery of Art during the regular work week and after nighttime concerts. The role is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the grounds in accordance with contract standards and behaving in accordance with divisional and organizational RISE values and expectations. The schedule is Wednesday – Sunday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, with potential for changes based on business needs.

Requirements

• Ability to work long hours outside during extreme weather conditions (rain, heat, snow).
• Ability to perform prolonged walking and standing.
• Ability to perform frequent bending, reaching, and stooping.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry large, heavy trash containers and bags (approximately 15 pounds).
• Ability to work with and around large crowds.
• Ability to pick up and remove debris from grounds.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to decipher/comprehend signs indicating danger.
• Must be able to obtain federal security clearance to work at the assigned work site.

• Previous grounds keeping experience.

Responsibilities

• Removing all trash from outside of buildings and in park areas, ensuring grounds are clean in accordance with contract standards.
• Using outdoor equipment to maintain grounds, including water hoses, leaf blowers, and billy goats.
• Cleaning and maintaining all assigned equipment and reporting any safety or mechanical concerns to the Lead Worker.
• Removal of dead animals such as small birds.
• Constant outside policing of all buildings and grounds.
• Ensuring that equipment and supplies are maintained in clean and working condition.
• Monitoring inventory.
