About The Position

Performs routine and directed grounds and landscape maintenance independently and as part of a team, including mowing lawns using riding and push mowers; trimming and edging around trees, shrubs, ground cover, flower beds, sidewalks, buildings, and other landscaped areas; and maintaining the appearance and condition of campus grounds. Maintains flower beds, lawns, turf, hardscape, roads, sidewalks, and other landscaped areas by weeding, thinning, cleaning, mulching, fertilizing, seeding, watering, cultivating, and performing other necessary grounds maintenance activities. Installs, operates, monitors, adjusts, cleans, and performs routine repairs to irrigation systems and related equipment to ensure appropriate watering of lawns, landscaped areas, trees, shrubs, and other plant materials. Monitors irrigation needs and maintains daily watering logs documenting areas watered and duration of watering activities. Applies approved fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and other landscape chemicals in accordance with established procedures and applicable requirements. Maintains daily chemical application records documenting areas treated, quantities and types of chemicals used, substances applied, and the purpose of each application. Inspects trees, shrubs, ground cover, flowers, lawns, turf, and other plant materials for insects, disease, physical damage, mechanical damage, and other conditions affecting plant health or appearance. Identifies damaged, diseased, or unsuitable plant materials requiring treatment, removal, or replacement. Performs horticultural maintenance activities including transplanting, pruning, trimming, cultivating, seeding, fertilizing, mulching, and watering trees, shrubs, ground cover, flowers, lawns, turf, and other landscape plantings. Inspects grounds and landscaped areas for appearance, safety, irrigation issues, damage, deterioration, and other conditions that may compromise the quality or functionality of the grounds. Takes immediate or appropriate corrective action to address identified conditions or reports conditions requiring additional attention. Maintains grounds maintenance tools, equipment, and supplies and uses appropriate tools and equipment to complete grounds, landscape, and irrigation activities safely and effectively. Performs campus-wide general maintenance and repairs by installing, removing, repairing and maintaining landscape lighting, signs, cables, chains, barricades, gates, bicycle racks, posts, fences, and repairing streets, parking lots, athletic fields, tennis courts, track and synthetic turf, as applicable. Removes unsightly trash and debris and dog waste receptacles from public areas by regularly inspecting grounds, drains, manhole covers, etc., for debris; raking, sweeping and bagging leaves, debris, dirt and trash from streets, sidewalks, parking lots. Performs campus-wide grounds site maintenance by installing, removing, repairing, and maintaining landscape lighting, signs, cables, chains, barricades, gates, bicycle racks, posts, fences, and other site fixtures and infrastructure. Performs routine repairs and maintenance to streets, parking lots, athletic fields, tennis courts, tracks, synthetic turf, and other campus site areas to maintain safe, functional, and presentable conditions. Inspects campus grounds, streets, sidewalks, parking lots, drains, manhole covers, athletic fields, and other site areas for trash, debris, damage, and other conditions requiring maintenance or corrective action. Removes trash, debris, leaves, dirt, and other unsightly materials from campus grounds and public areas by raking, sweeping, collecting, and bagging materials from streets, sidewalks, parking lots, and landscaped areas. Maintains dog waste receptacles and removes accumulated waste from designated campus areas to maintain clean, sanitary, and presentable grounds. Monitors campus site conditions and takes appropriate corrective action to address damaged, obstructed, or deteriorated areas and site features. Safely operates light vehicles and grounds maintenance equipment, including pickup trucks, tractors, street sweepers, riding mowers, and portable power tools and equipment such as saws, grass trimmers, snow and leaf blowers, sprayers, paint machines, and other grounds-keeping equipment. Follows applicable traffic laws, safety requirements, and manufacturer/operator instructions. Maintains grounds maintenance vehicles, tools, equipment, and machinery by performing routine and preventative maintenance, cleaning, inspections, and minor adjustments or repairs within the employee’s capabilities. Supports the overall operations of the department by performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including work performed after hours, on weekends, and during campus emergencies.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position.
  • Current and valid Colorado state issued driver's license
  • Pre-employment Criminal Background Check + Motor Vehicle report (required for new hires)
  • Must be able to submit evidence of the ability to accept work in the U.S. by the day employment begins.
