About The Position

This role involves maintaining the grounds and performing general maintenance and repair of building structures and their mechanical, electrical, and sanitary systems throughout the district. The position also requires performing major mechanical repairs on district vehicles with minimal supervision to ensure their proper performance and safety. Additionally, the role includes performing daily cleaning and servicing of buses and vehicles, and under general supervision, maintaining, repairing, and installing heating and air conditioning systems and equipment, ensuring the safe condition and operation of all HVAC systems in district facilities. Adherence to established policies and procedures is expected.

Requirements

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbally).
  • Ability to operate mowers, weed-eaters, hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to visually inspect and service vehicles.
  • Ability to operate equipment and tools involved in servicing vehicles.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve problems.
  • Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug tests and physical exam.
  • Ability to operate a bus or vehicle.
  • Knowledge of basic construction, routine maintenance, and repair procedures.
  • Knowledge of automotive mechanics, diesel, and fuel engine maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of HVAC repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques.

Nice To Haves

  • Clear and valid Texas commercial driver's license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsement.
