Building Maintenance - RKF
About The Position
Under supervision, this role assists in performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance work and repair of buildings and grounds, and performs related duties as required. The position involves performing grounds keeping and building maintenance duties, assisting with carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical work, as well as building alterations and HVAC systems maintenance and repairs. The role also includes cleaning and caring for buildings and facilities, maintaining them in an orderly and safe condition, moving furniture and equipment, and taking care of work-related equipment and materials. Groundskeeping tasks include mowing lawns, trimming trees and shrubs, watering, and landscaping. The worker will also assist with building inspections and operate various hand and power tools.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of carpentry, electrical, and plumbing trades.
- Standard tools, methods, practices, and materials involved in one of building trades such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical.
- Safe work practices.
- Methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery and equipment.
- Occupational hazards and safety precautions of the building maintenance trades.
- Ability to learn to perform a wide range of skilled and semi-skilled building trades work.
- Ability to learn applicable provisions of building, electrical, and plumbing codes.
- Ability to use a variety of building trades tools and equipment.
- Ability to recognize and locate conditions which require maintenance and repair work.
- Ability to use and care for hand and power tools utilized in the building trades.
- Ability to estimate time and materials needed to perform maintenance, construction, and repair jobs.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Ability to perform arithmetic calculations at the level necessary for satisfactory job performance.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

- One (1) year of experience in building and grounds maintenance work is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
