About The Position

The Grounds Maintenance Worker performs grounds and rest area maintenance duties according to established contract schedules, requirements, and standards in accordance with Tresco policies and procedures. This position helps maintain clean, safe, attractive, and well-manicured grounds.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Three years of experience in grounds maintenance, irrigation systems, and operating tractors and mowing equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in grounds maintenance, irrigation systems, and mowing equipment.
  • Ability to operate grounds maintenance tools and equipment safely.
  • Ability to perform outdoor maintenance duties and maintain clean, professional grounds.
  • Ability to follow instructions, meet contract requirements, and comply with company safety procedures.
  • Successful completion of Office of Inspector General (OIG)/CMMS Exclusions List check.
  • Successful completion of Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
  • Successful completion of General background check.
  • Successful completion of New Mexico Department of Health fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform grounds maintenance duties according to contract schedules, requirements, and quality standards.
  • Mow improved grounds using walk-behind or zero-turn riding lawnmowers to maintain a neat, well-manicured appearance.
  • Operate weed eaters, pull weeds, and perform weed control.
  • Use blowers and manually remove trash, leaves, limbs, and other debris to keep grounds clean and orderly.
  • Trim hedges and shrubs and edge around walkways, planters, buildings, and walls using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Prune shrubs and trees using shears, saws, and other applicable equipment.
  • Assist with storm cleanup as soon as manpower is available, including removing fallen trees, limbs, debris, and silt deposited by water runoff.
  • Aerate grounds and apply fertilizer as needed.
  • Monitor grounds maintenance equipment and report malfunctions or other issues.
  • Repair or replace Rain Bird valves, sprinkler systems, timers, pipes, fittings, and wiring as needed.
  • Dig ditches and perform irrigation system repairs to help maintain proper operation.
  • Follow Tresco’s dress code, policies, procedures, and ethical business practices.
  • Complete required annual health, safety, and educational training and demonstrate competency in assigned training.
  • Report to work as scheduled, remain alert during work and training, and follow established absence notification procedures.
  • Attend mandatory training sessions and staff meetings.
  • Represent Tresco professionally and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Communicate and support the organization’s mission, ethics, and goals.
  • Maintain current licenses and certifications required for the position, if applicable.
  • Follow all applicable health, safety, security, and hazardous materials policies and procedures, including OSHA, Safety Data Sheet (SDS), HIPAA, and workers’ compensation requirements.
  • Demonstrate respect for diversity and work effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Carry the assigned work phone while on duty and respond to calls, text messages, and emails in a timely manner.
  • Operate a company-owned or personal vehicle on behalf of Tresco when required. Company-owned vehicles must be kept clean.
