About The Position

Under supervision, the Grounds Maintenance Worker performs a variety of grounds maintenance duties required to meet the established grounds maintenance schedule, contract requirements, and quality standards at White Sands Missile Range. The successful candidate will assist in maintaining improved grounds, desert landscapes, sidewalks, driveways, curbs, and other designated areas in a clean, safe, neat, and professional condition.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in grounds maintenance.
  • Experience with irrigation systems.
  • Experience operating tractors, mowers, and other grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Proficient English oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of general grounds maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Ability to safely operate grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete assigned tasks according to established schedules and standards.
  • Ability to work outdoors and perform physically demanding grounds maintenance duties.
  • Ability to work effectively under stressful or changing conditions.
  • Strong attention to safety, cleanliness, and detail.
  • Driving is required for this position.
  • Subject to federal and company-required background and security screening, which may include: Office of Inspector General/CMMS Exclusions List check, Driving Record/Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, Office of Personnel Management/Federal Investigative Services security clearance, General Background Check.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language.
  • Must be able to operate a computer and required software effectively and efficiently.
  • Must be able to report to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Must be able to maintain all required licenses and certifications applicable to the position.
  • Must be able to consistently follow departmental and company Health, Safety, Security, and Hazardous Materials policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform grounds maintenance duties in accordance with contract schedules, requirements, and established standards, including mowing all improved grounds, edging sidewalks, driveways, street edges, curbs, and other hard-surfaced areas, trimming areas not accessible to mowing equipment, removing debris (general litter and natural debris), policing and inspecting grounds, and maintaining desert landscaping.
  • Perform weed control as required.
  • Operate grounds maintenance equipment safely and appropriately, including mowers, tractors, and related equipment.
  • Assist with irrigation system maintenance and other grounds-related tasks as assigned.
  • Follow all applicable safety procedures and contract requirements while performing assigned duties.
  • Accept and complete special projects and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Adhere to the company dress code.
  • Read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures unless a documented reasonable accommodation or authorized exception has been provided.
  • Interact professionally with coworkers, customers, clients, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
  • Operate a computer and required software effectively and efficiently, including basic typing, navigation, and interpretation of electronic information.
  • Complete required annual health, safety, and educational training and demonstrate the expected level of competency.
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled; remain awake and alert during work and training; and follow established absence notification procedures.
  • Attend all mandatory training sessions and staff meetings.
  • Represent Tresco in a positive and professional manner and establish and maintain professional relationships that support the organization's mission.
