Grounds Maintenance Worker II positions work at parks, recreation centers and other City facilities to perform a variety of grounds and facility maintenance duties. This includes tasks such as planting and replacing shrubs, flowers, turf, and trees; cleaning and maintaining parks, campgrounds, and recreational areas by removing weeds, debris, and trash; edging, fertilizing, watering, mowing, pruning, and trimming park landscapes; performing minor maintenance and repair of irrigation systems; cleaning and maintaining buildings and other facilities, including mopping, sweeping, waxing, dusting, and similar tasks; setting up facilities for multiple types of functions, including meetings, dances, conferences, or other events; performing minor painting, including the removal of graffiti; performing minor construction and maintenance work such as the placement and repair of benches and picnic tables; performing daily inspections of assigned areas for safety hazards and completing written inspection forms; reporting necessary repairs and significant maintenance needs, outside of the scope of grounds maintenance work, to supervisors and others; potentially leading the work of assigned workers and volunteers; driving a pick-up truck or other vehicle to job sites with equipment and supplies; maintaining and preparing athletic fields and sports areas; cleaning and disinfecting restrooms and comfort stations at parks and/or recreation centers; installing memorial markers, setting concrete monument foundations, and assisting in interment tasks at Mount Hope Cemetery; preparing reports; and performing other duties as assigned.
