About The Position

The Grounds Maintenance Worker will be responsible for the upkeep of all Payless Markets sites and outdoor greenery. This includes bush cutting, raking, water blasting, cleaning, trash disposal, and more to ensure the Payless Markets sites are presentable and in good condition. Equipment and Supplies will be provided by the Department Manager.

Adhere to all local and federal safety and environmental codes, ordinances, standards and laws
Adhere to all Pay-Less Markets and local safety plans, policies, practices and standards
Be aware of and follow all safety rules of your work site
Report any unsafe conditions or accidents to your supervisor and participate in mandatory or available safety training.
Physical ability to lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs) and stand for long periods.
Comfortable working in a humid/rainy, warm and cold environment.
Regularly required to talk, hear, and respond to customers and employees.
Frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Driver’s License is preferred
Chauffer’s License is preferred
Experience in operating a gas bush cutter, gas water blaster, gas blower, and other maintenance equipment

Responsibilities

Cut the grass with the proper equipment, to a height agreed upon by the Department Manager.
Using company equipment, blow or sweep the cut greenery and dispose accordingly.
On designated schedule days, waterblast the front customer-facing store facility and the trash bin.
Dispose of trash at all sites after cleaning.
Ensure consumers, consumer vehicles, and consumer property are protected from any moving debris, rocks, or other possible damages.
Always ensure safe usage and storage of all company property.
As needed, support Warehouse operations.
Communicates effectively with all store employees and Payless Customers.
Dress presentable at all times.
If any items are needed to perform tasks efficiently, speak with Department Manager.
Displays good customer services skills.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
