Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Two (2) years’ of operations and maintenance experience with heavy equipment machinery.
  • Experience performing grounds maintenance, vegetation control, and landscaping tasks in outdoor environments.
  • Knowledge of vegetation height requirements, boundary clearance standards, and installation environmental constraints.
  • Ability to safely operate mowing equipment, trimmers, and other vegetation control tools.
  • Familiarity with DoD, GEPA, and host installation safety and environmental requirements.
  • Ability to follow instructions from Project Manager, including required work approvals.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous grounds maintenance or landscaping experience on Federal, DoD, or military installations.
  • Experience operating commercial landscaping equipment, including zero-turn mowers, trimmers, brush cutters and blowers.
  • OSHA 10 certification or other applicable safety training.
  • Possess the required security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform minor construction, repair, alteration, and demolition tasks across FOS, latrines, and other temporary facilities.
  • Perform grass cutting and vegetation control within a 25-foot boundary of all FOS, latrines, port-a-johns, and temporary facilities.
  • Maintain grass and vegetation at no more than 8 inches in height.
  • Maintain vegetation control up to 22 acres at the site, including 30 feet on either side of fences and around utility boxes/manholes.
  • Prevent work outside approved boundaries and avoid keep-out buffer zones.
  • Remove grass clippings, debris, and vegetation waste to maintain a clean site environment.
  • Repair or replace any damage to materials, equipment, or property caused during grounds maintenance activities at no cost to the Government.
  • Operate mowing equipment, trimmers, blowers, and vegetation control tools safely and effectively.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and readiness of grounds equipment to support routine vegetation control requirements.
  • Perform all grounds maintenance tasks in compliance with Federal, GEPA, DoD, Service Branch, and host installation regulations.
  • Follow buffer restrictions and environmental protections noted in site maps and installation guidance.
  • Adhere to site safety protocols including hazard awareness and operational constraints.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
