The Grounds Maintenance Laborer is responsible for maintaining various areas including buildings, facilities, lawn areas, ornamental bushes and trees. This role also involves maintaining parade areas, common grounds, playgrounds, recreational areas, athletic fields, maintenance areas, warehouse areas, transportation vehicle storage and staging areas, utility plant areas, and cemeteries. The position supports recreation and special events, identifies and transports necessary equipment and supplies, and adheres to all driving rules and regulations on base. Key duties include mowing, trimming, edging, pruning trees and shrubs, removing trees and stumps, establishing new landscape areas, planting flowers and grass, laying sod, mulching, applying fertilizer and lime, controlling erosion, removing debris and trash, repairing storm damage, cleaning ditches, draining catch basins, maintaining headstones, and removing snow and ice from various surfaces using plows and salt spreaders. The role requires proper use and care of equipment, adherence to uniform and hygiene standards, and compliance with all building and security requirements, including wearing an ID badge at all times.
