About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting Park Maintenance Workers in the day-to-day care of our parks. This includes, but is not limited to, the care and maintenance of turf, beaches, paths, playgrounds, buildings, and athletic fields. The role requires a high level of customer service in a public atmosphere and the ability to work efficiently on an independent basis. The position may require the operation of City vehicles and/or personal vehicles to conduct City business. Requirements

Ability to have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Ability to be covered under the City’s vehicle insurance policy prior to operation of any City vehicles or non-City vehicles for City business.
Ability to safely operate power equipment, including but not limited to agricultural tractors, loaders, commercial riding movers, push mower, string trimmers and small hand tools.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Ability to perform routine and basic maintenance on grounds maintenance equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively to both public and staff.
Ability to work well with others and individually.

Nice To Haves

Six months experience working in a landscaping or turf maintenance operation preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist in the maintenance of turf care to include: mowing, trimming, seeding, aerating.
Clean restrooms regularly, including sweeping/mopping, restocking supplies, and wiping down all surfaces including sinks, urinals, and toilets.
Assist in the lay out, painting, and maintenance of all athletic fields.
Assist in removing graffiti and addressing vandalism in the parks.
Assist in transport of landscape materials throughout the city.
Assist in maintaining accurate records of work completed.
Assist in the collection of refuse in the park system.
Assist in the maintenance of playgrounds.
Assist with removal of encampments in accordance with Outreach and Removal Policies set forth by the City of Burlington.
Be a park advocate, providing excellent customer feedback and notifying park supervisors of undesirable activity, damage, excessive littering, etc.
Assist in special events.
Support volunteer services in the parks.
Attend mandatory trainings and meetings.
Assist in other job tasks as necessary.
