About The Position

The Grounds Keeper performs labor-intensive tasks in an industrial setting under the direction of a supervisor or foreman. The role may involve operating hand and power tools, cleaning and preparing sites, digging trenches, setting excavation braces, erecting scaffolding, removing rubble and waste, and assisting other craft workers. Other duties may be assigned. The employee performs strenuous manual work, maintains a clean and hazard-free job site, secures tools and equipment at the end of each day, follows safety and incident-reporting procedures, and reports problems to the Foreman or Safety personnel. Work requires wearing applicable personal protective equipment, which may include rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied-air and air-purifying respirators, safety harnesses, sandblast hoods, fire-resistant coveralls, hard hats, ear plugs, and safety glasses. The position is based in an industrial setting in Bay City, Texas. Applicants must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States; the company cannot sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position. Employment is conditional on passing a drug screen and background check.

Requirements

No minimum education requirements.

Ability to use some equipment, materials, and supplies commonly used in an industrial setting.
Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to schedule.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

Ability to meet the attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
Ability to perform work while wearing required personal protective equipment.
Ability to perform the physical activities described for the role, including reaching overhead, working in varied positions, handling tools or controls, climbing stairs, working at heights, and balancing for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

Six or more months of experience in an industrial setting is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor.
Maintain a clean job site, pick up tools and equipment, and secure the site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
Follow proper safety and incident-reporting procedures.
Bring problems to the attention of the Foreman or Safety personnel.
Operate hand and power tools as needed.
Clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris, and remove waste materials as needed.
Assist other craft workers.
Complete daily activities independently according to the work schedule.
Perform other duties as assigned.
