About The Position

Amentum is looking for a Grounds - Carpenter Grade I to join our team in McLean, VA! This role involves performing carpentry construction work, including framing, hanging drywall, installing/repairing carpet tiles, installing/repairing acoustical ceilings, and installing doors and door hardware. The position also contributes to building and grounds maintenance. The work schedule is Monday - Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. The role requires planning and layout of work, performing carpentry maintenance and construction, and executing jobs. Minor masonry and concrete work may also be required, along with related tasks. The Carpenter Grade I provides oversight to outside contractors and directs Carpenter II, M/M Helper, and repair personnel as assigned. Reading blueprints and generating a bill of materials are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Ability to comprehend written and oral instructions
  • Possess thorough knowledge of the carpentry trade
  • Must be able to operate power tools and machinery as required
  • A willingness to work shift if necessary, including days, evenings and nights as well as overtime, weekends and holidays as required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Top Secret clearance
  • Four years’ experience in the carpentry trade or building maintenance
  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship, vocational or internal developmental program for a journeyman carpenter
